Is DocketX legal advice?

No. DocketX products are research and explanation tools. They show you the real rule or opinion behind a statement so you can read it yourself; they do not replace a lawyer.

Which jurisdictions are covered?

Texas first: all Texas appellate decisions from 1840 through June 2026, the Texas statutes, and Texas court and county rules, plus the U.S. Supreme Court. Washington case law is being added; other states follow the same pipeline.

Can a law firm run this privately?

Yes. DocketRouter can route to a private model on hardware the firm controls, with the same grounding and citation gate, so no client text leaves the firm.

Can AI make up fake legal cases?

Yes. A language model predicts plausible text, and a citation is a short, patterned string that is trivially easy to invent and impossible to spot by eye. The only defence is looking every citation up, which is what our products do before you see an answer.

How do I check whether a case citation is real?

DocketRouter's citation check (POST /api/v1/citations/check, or the MCP tool) looks it up in a library of 18,123,788 citations across 989 reporters drawn from state and federal courts nationwide. Found means it exists in the public record; not found means no library we hold can locate it.

Is ChatGPT safe for legal research?

Not by itself. Any ungrounded model can produce a confident, wrong citation. If you use one, verify every citation before relying on it, or use a system that verifies before it answers.

What happens if I file a brief with a fake citation?

Courts have imposed sanctions, fines and disciplinary referrals on lawyers, and self-represented litigants risk their credibility and their case. Judges check citations; assume yours will be checked.

Does it work outside Texas?

Citation checking works nationally today. DocketBuster explains hearings in all 50 states. Deep full-text research is Texas first, Washington next, more states on the same pipeline — and we say exactly which is which rather than blurring it.

How is this different from Westlaw or Lexis?

It is not a replacement for a full research platform. It is a verification and grounding layer: any model you already use, checked against real law, at $0.01 per retrieval query with prepaid credits and no subscription. What we do not hold, we say plainly.

Does a citation being verified mean the case is good law?

No, and we refuse to blur that line. Verification proves the citation exists and the name matches the courts' records. Whether it has been overruled, and whether it supports your argument, are separate questions — read the opinion.

How do you know your zero-hallucination number is real?

We ran 348 adversarial and real answers through the production system — prompts designed to bait invented cases, fake doctrines and padded citation lists. Zero unverifiable citations survived to the final answer. The number is measured, not promised.
